Students are required to attend a course 90% of the days it is offered in order to receive credit for the course. This allows for approximately 9 absences per semester and 18 per yearly course. Attendance is taken each class period. Failure to meet the attendance requirement for a class will result in one or more of the following:
  • Denial of credit for the course

  • Requirement to complete an alternative assignment in order to regain credit

  • Loss of ability to get a driver's license or renewal of license

  • Truancy  court

  • Court costs

  • Withdrawal to a GED program by court order

  • An appearance before the Campus Attendance Committee

  • Transfer revoked

  • Withdrawal from school after 5 or more unexcused absences at age 18

Your child's attendance is critical to his/her success in school.

Please note that there have been important changes in state law. Your child has only THREE DAYS to turn in an excuse for an absence to the attendance office. You may also email the attendance office - ermartinez@ccisd.us.

Consequences of not attending school are a court hearing and/or denial of your child's privilege to drive.

Please speak with your child about good attendance. If you have any questions, please call  994-6900 X325.
