BUSINESS COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Classroom Syllabus

Course Description

In BCIS#, you will learn how to use Microsoft Word, Power Point, Publisher, Excel, Access, Outlook and Front Page. You will develop professional oral and visual communication skills, create a variety of business-oriented documents including memos, letters, tables, reports, financial statements, charts, ads, proposals, newsletters, brochures, and web pages, and learn to use the Internet as a resource tool. This course will count as one Technology credit. At the end of this course, you will be eligible for testing for the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification. This certification gives both job applicants and employees the advantage of proven productivity in a competitive market for jobs and advancement. Absences

  • All work is completed in class so attendance is very important.
  • You are responsible for scheduling makeup exams, getting missed assignments, and turning in late assignments. It is your grade, not mine.
  • Plan on scheduling time before or after school in the lab to catch up on missed assignments.

Grading

  • Exams and major projects will count as 40% of your nine week average.
  • Class work and daily assignments will count as 60% of your nine week average.
  • Each spelling error will count 10 points. Other errors such as formatting or not following directions will count 5 points. The work you complete should be acceptable in the business world.

Cheating

DON'T!!! But if you do, you will receive a grade of ZERO. The student helping you will also receive a ZERO. Cheating is not only receiving answers but knowingly giving them as well.
